JUNIOR PERFORMANCE 2

The Junior Performance 2 squad is an important step in the KUHSC performance pathway, supporting swimmers as they transition from development squads into a more structured and demanding training programme.

Swimmers in JP2 are expected to demonstrate strong technical ability in front crawl, backstroke, starts and turns, while continuing to develop their breaststroke and butterfly skills. Training places greater emphasis on improving technique across all four strokes, building endurance and developing the ability to train effectively at higher intensity and volume.

A strong commitment to training and competition is expected, with swimmers attending multiple sessions each week and taking part in club galas and open meets as directed by the coaching team. The squad focuses on developing racing skills, building confidence in competition and working towards qualifying times for Yorkshire competitions.

JP2 also introduces swimmers to additional elements of performance training, including threshold work and land training where appropriate. The squad aims to help swimmers develop both as athletes and individuals, preparing them for progression into the Junior Performance 1 squad as their skills, commitment and competitive achievements continue to grow.
