The Academy squad builds on the foundations developed in the earlier club pathway squads, Penguins and Swim Skills, supporting swimmers as they further develop their technique, fitness and commitment to training.

As the next stage of progression within the KUHSC pathway, Academy swimmers take part in more structured training with an increased commitment to attendance and skill development. Swimmers are expected to train regularly, demonstrate good lane discipline and maintain a positive attitude towards training and improvement.

Sessions focus on refining technique across all strokes, developing endurance and strengthening the skills needed for competitive swimming. Swimmers are encouraged to participate in club galas and competitions as selected by the coaching team, gaining valuable race experience while continuing their development.

The Academy squad prepares swimmers for progression into the club’s development squads as their ability, commitment and competitive experience continue to grow.
